At the Arthur Child Heritage Museum Gallery, you will find that the beautiful Threadworks: Flashback collection will speak to each of you in very special ways. The techniques incorporated in the artwork are very well executed and the variety amazing! Jewellery, art quilts, sculpture, photo transfer, embroidery and hand stitch that will inspire and bring you close to the special effort that has gone into each individual piece. From large pieces that were designed for the walls and exciting small works, all exemplify the talent and special skills of the stitchers.
Lynn Halley from The Lake of the Woods Museum said this about the exhibit:
It’s an exhibit of extraordinary stitched textile art. A number of artists have come together using the flashback and memories, and each has interpreted it differently. There are some magnificent pieces, Everything from kimonos, to selfie portraits, to 3D bowls, to quilts. This is all needlework. Some is hand stitched, some is machine sewn, but again all are just exquisite pieces. You’ll be awed by the artistry in each piece.
Take the opportunity between now and October 30, to visit the Arthur Child Heritage Centre along the beautiful St. Lawrence River in Gananoque and visit this truly beautiful exhibition of art quilts and fibre art pieces. A number of well known local artists have work in the show as well as artists from across Ontario and, indeed, Canada.
